Here we got to talk about upcoming project “Seasonal Depression”
available all platforms May 29th!
How long did it take to make your project from start to finish, recording-wise?
Recording wise this album took me almost 3 months. I’d lay down the demo and use that to rehearse for 2 weeks (if not longer) before i’d lay down final vocals and get into mixing so i could come up with ideas for backing vocals and what voices i wanted to use to get the emotion of the song across.
What kind of ‘sound’, production wise, did you have in your mind, prior to entering the studio?
Prior to recording i listened to a lot of guardin, 9tails, neck deep and state champs which that created the alternative rap/pop sound i was envisioning.
What kind of input did the producer have during the process
And are you pleased with the final outcome? (sound – production wise)
I went through a few different producers for beats so their input wasn’t really involved in the final product. I record and mix everything in my bedroom and send my songs to my manager and some other artists in NR for opinions. Overall i’m extremely happy with how this album turned out.
Did the you use any experimental mixing and/or recording techniques?
During recording i didn’t use any of my presets, so it took a lot of time to fine tune every song and get it to how i visioned it. I used lots of different vocal effects i wasn’t exactly familiar with and I tried background screams and lots of different voices on the album to get the right feeling across.
Please inform us about your favourite songs and lyrical highlights and why?
My favorite song on the album is definitely L’s because it’s about how i started to feel when people realized my music wasn’t straight trash ? I had people i haven’t talked to in years reaching out to me about how they like the new song and trying to catch up and then they promote their work to me. It’s created a whole lot of business opportunity but it made me feel like people were taking advantage of the opportunity that i have instead of reconnecting a friendship.
“Lettin loose, lose friends
cuttin off the loose ends now
funny how the music gets good and y’all comin from the background
y’all dont love me, just the sound
keep 2 feet up on the ground
and my head up in the clouds
yeah, shit so wavy
baby i would rather drown”
Any overall theme of mood that you’re trying to capture with the project?
The overall theme is sad ? There’s no other way to describe it.
Does your vision for coming up with music get affected at all by time?
My vision definitely changes as time goes on but it’s more beat choice rather than lyrical content, i write about what i feel because im bad at talking about my feelings so everything in the album is genuine.
How would you describe the sound of your tape to any potential new fan?
Who are your influences and heroes? (music-wise)
Overall influences are Mac Miller, The 1975, Neck Deep, State Champs, Chase Atlantic, Guardin, 9tails, guccihighwaters, MGK, sadeyes, blackbear, jutes, quinn xcii
and there’s so many more but for this album, that sums it up.
If there’s anything you’d like to add, say, please do:
I just want to thank everyone who supports my music and me as a person. The amount of positive feedback I’ve been receiving is unreal and i wouldn’t have the confidence to be where i’m at if it wasn’t for all of the boys on the team and the fans. y’all are amazing ?
